1. Will this slow down my internet connection? I am currently on DSL and current DL speed is like 1.2Mbps, UL speed is 327Kbs. We have a laptop and two printers hardlined into our wireless hub/router and 2 other computers on wireless.
2. Is the sound quality really as good as a land line?
3. I have AT&T for my phone and internet. Will they give me any problems switching my # over to Vonage?
4. The V-Portal says "Connects 1 computer to the internet". What does this mean? Can I not use my wireless hub or other devices anymore?
Thank you |

1. It will only have an effect on the internet connection while on the phone but it will not affect it that much.
2. Sound quality is pretty good as long as your internet connection is constant. If there are any internet problems, your sound quality will suffer.
3. You will have to change to dry loop DSL before switching to Vonage otherwise you will lose your internet connection.
4. The V-portal on has 1 ethernet connection. You can only hook 1 device behind the V-portal. It can be a wireless router or any device. You may also hook up a router in front of the V-portal. |

Although Vonage recommends placing the V-Portal before any other router in your network, I set my V-Portal behind my main router and gave QoS priority to my V-Portal. All I want my V-Portal to be is a phone adapter, not a router. There have been reports on this forum that if you place the V-Portal in front of your primary router, your download speeds will drop off. You may want to test this theory for yourself to see if it applies with your setup. |
