Post subject: Cannot Connect
Hi,
I have a
Vonage
in the
Philippines
for a friend. I enjoyed about 8 months of good service but a few months ago the unit starting having some problems. I had the old Motorola unit. What would happen was the red LED would start flashing and if you called it the call would go directly to voice mail.
So last time there, a few weeks ago, I brought a V-portal. Got it hooked up, but now I seem to have the same problem. I have a laptop connected to it and sometimes, like every 10 minutes or so, the call will just go blank and you cannot hear anything then it will come back. At the same time, the inet will freeze.
So I had Digitel upgrade the DSL to 1mg down, 384 up. It was at 384 down and 128 up. But still with the old config there was no problem. Now, I am still experiencing the same issues.
Now its easy for me to believe that its not the adapter because its new. BUt in the times that the V-portal will not answer, the internet works fine. So with this clue, I am baffled.
Can anyone suggest anything to me? Does it sound like a DSL problem or can there be something else? Why would the inet work and the
Vonage
does not? THe V-portal has to be power cycled then it works fine for a while.
Thanks in advance.

Please post the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum. In particular, we need to see the
Voip
speed test data.

Ghene, are you associated with Aragon2000, above?? In any case, your test data shows very long download pause. If you're having trouble, I'm not surprised.

Steve, yes Ghene is my fiance. I posed from her computer and could not find my password so i created a new account. Anyway, I am back.
So from the above test data, what exactly is it telling me and what do I need to say to Digitel, the provider, to get this fixed.
It used to work flawlessly, now does not after putting in a new router.
Thanks,
Mike and Ghene

Mike, first remove the router, plug the computer directly into the DSL modem, and repeat the test. If you get similar results, start by telling them that you're only getting 51 kbps down when you're supposed to be getting 1 Mbps down. Also, you're getting high round trip time (342 ms) and extremely long pauses (3667 ms).
