I have Unlimited international calls plan to Mexico and several other countries. I've had no problems making calls to land lines, but I cannot make any calls to mobile numbers (which, by the way, I know are NOT included in my plan)
Mexico has a fairly new way to dial to cell phones (adding a 1 prior to the area code) So this is how I'm dialing:
011 52 1 664 000-0000 (for Tijuana)
011 52 1 33 3000-0000 for Guadalajara (2 digit area code)
Please help me, I've called the technical dept, but no one seems to know the answer to this 64 million dollar question! Thanks, Tania |

Something is definitely up. I have used my Vonage line in the past to make calls to Mexican Cells with no problem. Even after the new dialing requirements. I would guess the last time was about 5 months ago though. I just tried to call my Mexican cell from my Vonage line and the call doesn't ring through on my cell. It just keeps ringing on the Vonage phone. Also, it doesn't switch over to the Mexican sounding ring tone either. In the past, when calling Mexican numbers, the first ring or two would be the normal American style sound and then it would switch to the Mexican sound. That was my indication that the call was actually being completed correctly. Have you had success dialing Mexican cells in the past? Are you only having problems completing calls to Mexican cells or cells in other countries as well? Just curious. |
