I recently moved and my caller ID is no longer working. At my last house I had the my Linksys PAP2 plugged into my home phone network. Everything worked fine. I get to the new house and I made sure that the home phone wiring was unplugged from the interface box outside. Double checked, nothing coming in on the line. Hooked everything up, phone works great, no noise on the line or anything. But the caller ID won't work.
I unplugged the adapter and plugged a phone directly in, caller ID works without a problem. Plug it back in, no caller ID.
What can I do to fix this problem? |

How many phones are on the line?
If there are too many, the caller ID will not work properly.
I believe that Vonage says no more than 5 phones wired, but that may still be your problem.
I have many cordless phones that work off of 1 base. That causes no problem. |

I have a total of 3 phones plugged in. One of those is plugged into the phone adapater. Same exact configuration as my last house except different wiring of course. |

As an experiment, try unplugging each of your 3 phones, one at a time, and see if one of them is causing CID to fail. If not, then it must be your house wiring, or some other device that's connected to it. |

Even with just one phone plugged in the caller ID still won't work. As soon as I unplug the wire from the phone jack it will work on that phone again. I've tried the phones at different jacks too and it won't work. As I said before though, the audio quality is great. |

Thsn it would seem that there is something wrong with the house wiring. Can you find another device on the line? Maybe an auxilliary ringer left by a previous occpuant? Can you trace the entire house? Can you find the place where the different branches of the house wiring come together, and disconnect individual branches until you find the one that's killing your CID signal? |

It sounds as if there's something we don't understand about the house wiring. Can you isolate and disconnect sections of it? |

sounds like something is off with your home wiring as well. |

I agree with the others that it's most likely the house wiring. Try this,
pull every phone jack out and note the color code of each wire. ALL the jacks must wired the same. That should solve the problem. PLEASE post when you find the problem. Thank you.
