Post subject: Vonage compatibility with Linksys
Hello,
I have a Linksys Wireless-G Notebook Adapter (Model: WPC54G ver. 2). Is this compatible with the D-Link
Vonage
Phone Adapter/Wireless Router (Model: VWR-VD)?
I cannot find any information on compatibility between the two. I assume Linksys products are not compatible with other router manufacturers, but I want to double check to avoid buying a new wireless notebook adapter.
My old Linksys router with built-in
Vonage
capability has died. This router is no longer sold in stores. I need to either buy a D-Link
Vonage
Wireless Router or a new Linksys wireless router with a
Vonage
adapter (more expensive, so I'm hoping to just get the D-Link from
Vonage
and use it with my Linksys notebook adapter).
Thank you in advance.

ALL wireless adapters and routers are more or less made to work with each other. There are 4 standards for wireless networks;
802.11 a, 802.11 b, 802.11 g, and 802.11 n.
Your Wireless-G Notebook Adapter is 802.11 g, which is backward compatible with 802.11 b.
The
Vonage
VWR-VD is 802.11b- and 802.11g-compliant.
So no problem if you buy the VWR-VD.
