Okay, I signed up for Vonage a few days ago, but had to take a nearby area code, as my area code is not yet available. I am wondering, can I port my home phine number over to our cell phone (I actually have confirmed that I can do this), and then when my area code is available, port it from the cell phone to my Vonage service (this is the part I am questioning)?
I didn't know if there was a limit as to how many times I could port the number. Also, assuming this is possible, would it be a bigger pain in the arse than it is worth? I am leaning towards yes, but my wife apparently has grown very attached to our home phone number...

that should be fine. there are no limits to how often you can port a number. just beware that by porting a number from a cell phone (just like porting any phone number) will effectively disconnect your cell phone service (unless you have a family or multi-line plan) so you may get hit with a big early termination fee if you are still under contract with the cell provider.

Our contract just ended yesterday on the cell phone, so we should be okay there. Just have to get a new cell phone number, no big deal. Thanks for the info.
