Okay, I signed up for Vonage a few days ago, but had to take a nearby area code, as my area code is not yet available. I am wondering, can I port my home phine number over to our cell phone (I actually have confirmed that I can do this), and then when my area code is available, port it from the cell phone to my Vonage service (this is the part I am questioning)?
I didn't know if there was a limit as to how many times I could port the number. Also, assuming this is possible, would it be a bigger pain in the arse than it is worth? I am leaning towards yes, but my wife apparently has grown very attached to our home phone number...
Thanks, Andy |

that should be fine. there are no limits to how often you can port a number. just beware that by porting a number from a cell phone (just like porting any phone number) will effectively disconnect your cell phone service (unless you have a family or multi-line plan) so you may get hit with a big early termination fee if you are still under contract with the cell provider. |

Our contract just ended yesterday on the cell phone, so we should be okay there. Just have to get a new cell phone number, no big deal. Thanks for the info. |
