Hi,
I have a directv dvr hr20 and currently have no problems with Vonage and my receiver placing its daily calls.
Here is my question.
Directv now has VOD (video on demand) but you have to hook up to your internet, in order to get these movies.
What do I need and how do I do that?
My computer is on the 2nd floor in my house and my DTV receiver is on the 1st.
I have the standard Vonage router (Motorola VT2442 - VD) and was told I have to hook up the DTV receiver to the Vonage router via the ether net connection on back.
Can someone please help me.
Thanks. |

I think you were told correctly. The DTV receiver has to be connected to one of the four LAN side ethernet ports on the VT2442. The problem, of course, is the logistics. Somehow you need to either get both the Vonage box and the DTV receiver close together, or you have to run an ethernet cable from one floor to the other. If you have modern CAT5 cabling in your house, the latter may be easy. Otherwise, it probably won't. |

Look into the power line adapters that are available now. Plug one into a electrical outlet in the 2nd floor room and another on the first floor.
They are becoming very popular. Not as cheap as the cable solution though. |

What is a good brand power line adapter to buy?
Will a cheap one work?
I am looking for a cheap, yet decent solution to this problem and am more interested in the power line adapter solution.
Thanks. |

I can't recommend any particular one and I don't know how much they cost.
Google power line adapters and review them. |

I don't understand your question. The powerline adapters are for ethernet.
The are like a wireless router except they use the house power lines. |
