Try logging on to your account. Disable voice mail and log off. Then log back on and re-enable it. You can also try calling your Vonage number from another phone. Leave yourself a voicemail message. Then access the message from your Vonage phone and delete it. |

The following is something I posted a couple days ago. The same thing is probablly occuring for you, albeit slightly differently...

Newish D-Link routers (and I believe the DI-624 is one of them) contain a "feature" called Application Level Gateway. What it does is re-write the packets going through the router so that they contain the public IP address of your internet connection instead of the private IP address of the device behind the router. Now that sounds like it should be a good thing...but in most cases its not. D-Link's Application Layer Gateway also tends to "eat" some packets randomly. Specificlly why, I've never been able to figure out.
Now for your problem... the SIP protocol (which VoIP uses for call setup) requires an acknoledgement packet sent to the other end when you answer a call. If that acknoledgement is not received, the other end thinks you're not there and ends the call, within about 5-10 seconds. Your description of the problem, along with the setup of your hardware, points to this as happening.
Here's another problem. D-Link doesn't document that this feature is in many of their routers and alot of them that have it, cannot turn it off. Port Forwarding and DMZ doesn't do anything to counteract this either, so don't waste your time trying it. If you cannot turn off Application Level Gateway, you'll need to put your Vonage device ahead of your D-Link router so that its connected like so:
Cable Modem -> RTP300 -> D-Link router / whatever
|
Basiclly the Application Level Gateway in D-Link routers "eat" some of the messages sent to your PAP2. At some point, the message to turn on the voicemail indicator was delivered, but the messages to turn it off did not. Since the PAP2 is just a phone adapter, you cannot put it in front of your router. However, if you turn off ALG on the router, you should be good to go. |

DentalRep,
I used to have the same problem. It turned out for me that pressing the * key after I delete all messages, seemed to have resolved that issue for me.
I don't understand how the router is involved in all this, since the phone is connected directly to your PAP2. |

Thanks for all the help. I am good now. I called myself and left a message. I then deleted the message from my phone instead of my computer. Works great now. |

When I had that problem I discovered that after deleting the message on line it only moved it to the trash folder and I had to delete it from the trash folder to get the light to go out. It boils down to deleting it twice online. Just click on the arrow next to where it shows your new messages and then highlite the trash messages and delete them again. |
