I currently have two Vonage numbers on my account, I use one in Colorado and my son uses the other in Germany. Everything works great with the exception that I am unable to call his number. When I dial it will ring from 3 to 6 times then drop dead. I can call any other number, including other Vonage numbers, without and issue and he can call me on my Vonage number. He is able to call any number with no problems including me. So, the issue is I can't call him on his Vonage number from my Vonage number!

I'll assume its something that will require a tech support call but figured I'd ask just in case -- I haven't seen it on the forum before.

My setup -> Motorola SB5120->DIR-655->DLink VTA->VTech 5.8 cordless phone set

Download speed 17232 Kbps (socket test)
Upload speed 2887 Kbps (socket test)
Quality of service 63%
Maximum delay 66 ms
Round trip time 41 ms
Upstream jitter 0.9 ms
Upstream packet loss 0 %
Upstream packet order 100 %
Upstream discards 0 %
Downstream jitter 0.5 ms
Downstream packet loss 0 %
Downstream packet order 100 %
Downstream discards 0 %

Any assistance would be appreciated!

This is something for support.

Before you call there is one other thing I would do, try to call his Vonage number from a land line or another Vonage line if you have one available to you.

I only mention this because you didn't talk about him receiving calls at all. Based on what you are explaining I'm guessing it is a routing problem between the two specific Vonage numbers, but trying to call him from another number would help to narrow it down for sure.

Just for the record 2 Vonage lines on the same account should be able to call each other. I have this type of setup and it works.

He takes calls all day long and doesn't have a problem aside from the occasional ISP issues in Germany. I also don't have problems calling anyone except him. I forgot to mention that it rings in the handset and on his phone but disconnects after 3 to 6 rings. If he answers before the first 3, lets say, its dead air.

Interesting problem. That said its not a major deal on my part since he calls right back and the call connects as it should.

Try turning off the Application Level Gateway for SIP in your D-Link router.

Tried that, thanks, but couldn't make any calls then --- I actually suspect its not in the router since all other calls work. I'm leaning towards a config issue with Vonage but I'm not sure I'm willing to endure the hours of flipcharts and rebooting to get it fixed!
