Post subject: "code 004"
-ok, here we need urgent assistance
-we have a VDV21-VD, just received last friday
now connects to a dlink mr814v2
and goes out on a 2wire 2701hg-d
we are getting a [code 004] on the vdv
-what happens is that connecting the vdv directly to the 2wire we have voice ip, however, as soon as we try to access the administration page of the 2wire, the router keeps rebooting forever
-now, if we connect the vdv21 to the dlink, the administration page of the 2wire is accessible, but we get a [code 004] on the vdv and no voice-ip
-rebooting the vdv21 does nothing
-the vdv21 connects to the internet but does not register
-the dlink has no known restrictions, so it looks like a mistery
anybody at
Vonage
has a clue of what is the issue here ?
I HAVE to have access to the administration of the 2wire, sorry but even if it may work losing access to the administration menu, this not an acceptable option
thanks
===================================
updates:
got it to work, trough the dlink, using manual settings
on the dlink (ip,dns,mac)
still is a mistery why the VDV21-VD causes the 2wire to reboot in a loop whenever trying to reach the administration page (connecting directly the vdv to the 2wire)

IP or subnet conflicts?

possible, have not done further investigation with nmap, however is nasty, and requires to flash the 2wire to factory and reenter the configuration from scratch
now, being on the dlink, should not be dangerous any longer

Based on wht I could find, the 2 wire has a default dhcp subnet assignment (LAN side) of 192.168.0.1 - 255.
The mr814v2 (I show as a netgear device, not dlink ???) also by default uses the subnet 192.168.0.1 - 255
I would change the mr814v2 (
LAN
side) 192.168.0.1 - 255 to something else other than 192.168.15.1-255 which the
Vonage
device uses.
Staked routers can be difficult to deal with. On the
WAN
side of the mr814v2 , I would set a static IP (such as you have done) to 192.168.0.xxx, with a DNS and Host of 192.168.0.1, which I also guess you have done.

Yes, you are right, is a netgear, this things all look the same, I should have read the brand name, LOL
That is pretty much what I have done, starting with the qwest on 192.168.0.x down to the Netgear on 192.168.1.x, and so on, the next is going to be a linksys on 192.168.2.x.
Plugged the
Vonage
box in the netgear, and set static IP, DNS and MAC and it started working, I guess the mr814v2 is trying to monopolize the 192.168.0.1 address, and to their excuse, I must say that their setup would work if the modem and the router were two different pieces, but here with both in one piece, I don't have a 'wan in' on the 2wire
but anyways, thanks for your info, if it crashes again this way I'll follow your idea and swap the ip ranges between the netgear and the 2wire
cheers
