Hey guys, I know this topic has been posted many times before, but I couldn't find an answer to my issue specifically. I just disconnected Bellsouth phone service... still using standalone DSL service through them. My question is, is it possible to wire it so all phone jacks are active? I tried disconnecting the phone wires from the outside jack, but that disconnected my DSL, so I'm not sure what else to do without buying a phone system with wireless satellite phones. Is that the only workaround or am I just missing something?
Also, if it is possible to re-wire/detach the phone wire, has Vonage ever fixed the issue with communicating with the DirecTV DVR's? I had Vonage previously (with cable) and had to rig up a null cable modem in order for the DVR to dial out through Vonage. That was 3 years ago, so I'm hoping this issue has been addressed? Not sure what to do if detaching the phone wire is not possible...
Anyways, thanks in advance for whatever help you guys can provide!

Indy,
Basically, most homes are daisy chained unless the home wiring was put together in a star typology. Either way, most homes will have at least 2 lines go to each phone jack.
So I presume that line 1 is currently your dsl. So you will need to move the dsl to line 2 and then plug in your vonage to any available jack. This will then light up all the phones to line 1 which is vonage.
I encourage you to check out the home wiring sub forum and also the dvr/tivo subforum. Answers should be readily available there. |

Right. Also keep in mind that both pairs are often connected to outside underground lines. You need to leave the one that carries your DSL connected and you must make sure that the other is disconnected from outside wires. This is true even if the second outside line is inactive. |
