I'm thinking of porting one of my ATT CV numbers to Vonage. Specifically, the number I'd like to port is a Virtual (secondary) number on CV.
I do NOT want to port the primary CV number over, just the virtual/secondary number.
Has anyone tried to port just a seondary number from AT&T or any other provider? And if so, did you have any problems (such as the main number getting accidentally shut off) in the process?
It would be a hardship to lose the primary number on the CV line, so I'm understandably a little nervous. |

I have heard that AT&T does not allow porting of those types of numbers. They also give you a hard time if you request to turn a virtual number into a real one so that you can port it. You'll probablly need to check with AT&T to find out for sure. |

Hmm.... thanks. I'll wait to see if anyone else has additional input, but it sounds like my best bet might be to convert the virutal number into its own separate phone line with AT&T and leave it for a couple months, then port it away. ATT CV doesn't have contracts or cancellation fees, so I don't really have anything to lose (except time). |
