We recently moved into a new home (built around 1998) and I wired Vonage to use the home phone lines. Everything was working great until a couple days ago.
Now when pick up the phone, I get the off the hook signal. To troubleshoot, I removed every phone from their wall jack (so I know that there isn't any phone that really is off the hook) and only tested with one corded phone. It doesn't matter which jack I plug into, I get the off the hook signal. If I plug Vonage directly into one of my phones, I get a dial tone.
The only thing that I can think of is that there is a short in my lines but I do not know how to go about detecting the source. Does any one have advice. Also, we had a very bad storm right before Vonage stopped working. Not sure if that had anything to do with this or not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Brian |

Thanks to some other great posts on this forum I figured out what my issue was. I had to disconnect my home lines from NID. Once I did that everything worked again. |

That's great. I'm surprised that it worked to start with, but all's well that ends well. |
