Just hooked up Vonage according to Vonage instructions...
Comcast -> Motorola Modem -> V-Portal -> Linksys Router -> 3 PC's.
Vonage seems to be working great. Comcast now seems to suffer significant latency on web access. I can click a link and wait as long as 15 or 20 seconds in some instances before the page loads.
Using Broadbandreports.com speedtest, I get 23.4m dl and 1.7m up! Wow! (?)
Using Vonage's Speed test, I get 1116kbps down and 2452kbps up!
That's quite a difference, isn't it.
I'm wondering if the setup is causing this latency problem in loading web pages...
The Vportal's ip address is 192.168.15.1
The Linksys router reports a WAN IP Address of 192.168.15.2 and a LAN IP Address of 192.168.1.1
The computers on the network all have IP Addresses of 192.168.1.xxx
Can this be correct? Thanks for any help! |

Everything sounds correct with the addressing. The V-portal is using 192.168.15.xxx for its sub-net, assigning 15.1 to itself and 15.2 to the Linksys. The Linksys is using 192.168.1.xxx for its LAN side, taking 1.1 for itself. No problem.
Getting to the latency problem, try running the forum Voip speed test. Post the detailed results. Then remove the V-portal, re-run the test, and post those results. Also check and make sure that removing the V-portal restores your computer to its old internet speed. |

"Try" placing the Vportal behind linksys.
Comcast -> Motorola Modem ->Linksys Router -> 3 PC's\V-Portal Connect all PCs to Linksys.
Go to Webaccount and change bandwidth saver to normal/30kbps |

Supposedly the new adapter has QoS built in. But your router most likely too. So set QoS on a port for Vonage on your router, and the other three for your PCs...

I am having great quality on Vonage with no noticeable slowdown on my Comcast connection. As has been suggested, I am running my V-Portal behind my router. |
