I currently have a BEFSR41 wired router. I currently purchased the new V-Phone that plugs into my computers USB port. The system tell me that the service is unavailable. Although I can access the internet.

You may want to check your firewall on the computer that the v-phone is plugged in to

i have already checked that. I can make connection with my buddy's wireless but I can make connection with this one. I contacted Vonage and i was informed that the router is blocking the connection... I'm not real sure... I'm not very computer smart.. I thought about purchasing another router, but I dont want to have the sane issues.

has your computer told you that the v-phone device is fully operational? usually when you plug in a new usb device, the computer has to install some device drivers and when it is done, there will be a little balloon that pops up and says your new device has been installed and is functional or something like that.

please post back. it seems to me like your v-phone is not properly connected to your computer yet or as of yet uninstalled.

It works fine with a wireless router but I can connect with the hard router. I thinking I may have to upgrade to a newer router.. This one is about 6 years old and maby it doesn't support Voip

I really doubt that the problem is an old router. I believe it is a configuration issue. does your router have SPI firewall? you might want to disable it.

I looked for any firewalls and cant find them in the router settings

When I plug the hard line it, it cant find the server. Upon removing the hard line my computer locates my buddys wireless and it instantly finds the server

I've downloaded your users guide and you're correct, there is no firewall setting.

however, here is one test. find out what ip address your computer is on and set that ip address to dmz.

it's under the applications/gaming tab; DMZ should be the 2nd to the last selection on the right.

put your computer ip address; usually you only need to enter the final 3 digits.

see if this helps.

I looked and it set for an automatic IP Address. Is there any where else I would look in order to find this?
