Vonage has released a firmware update for the V-Portal, firmware version 2.8.1-1.4.6. If you have a wireless router in front of your V-Portal and you configured the V-Portal for remote config management, you will not be able to login to the V-Portal because remote config management will be disabled with this new firmware release. I would also add that if you had disabled DHCP on the V-Portal, it is now enabled with this firmware release.
To re-enable remote config management on the V-Portal, I had to temporarily remove my primary wireless router from my network and connect the V-Portal directly off the modem and login to the device at 192.168.15.1 using the default username/password router/router. In the setup of the V-Portal, I enabled remote config management and disabled DHCP since my primary wireless router will be the DHCP server. Once completed, I reconnected my primary wireless router directly off the modem and connected the V-Portal behind the wireless router and I am now able to remote in to the V-Portal from the static IP address my wireless router assigns the V-Portal.
Wiith this new firmware release, QoS features have been added for the V-Portal along with some new diagnostic tools that I was not aware of with the previous firmware version 2.8.0-1.3.1. |

Has anyone had any problems downloading the latest firmware? Right now I have the v-portal hooked directly up to the cable modem and it hasn't downloaded (and didn't download after a reset). Level 2 is telling me there is a bug in the firmware and the firmware I have right now (1.3.1) is the latest functioning firmware. Not sure if I am the only one having this problem or if it a widespread issue. |

New firmware versions will be pushed to your device automatically without any action on your part. The only bug that I've encountered with this new release was the changing of settings, i.e. remote config magement was disabled and DHCP server was enabled. This issue may only occur if the V-Portal is behind your primary router...it did for me. Another poster from the official Vonage forum posted that they received the update without any changes to their settings with the V-Portal behind their primary router. |

I am new to Vonage.
I have the V-portal and could not get my series one TiVo to dial out.
I also could not make calls that have a automated prompt system, calls would disconnect after 25 seconds.
I had some long tech support calls to Vonage and on the third try they pushed the firmware update and all is working well.
The support techs are very dedicated and extremely easy to work with.
These forums are really helpful.
I was able to verify my home wiring and home network setup and I was able to work with the tech to get it working.
Thanks for a useful forum. |

I have the V-Portal behind my Linksys WRT54G wireless router. The router is behind my Westel DSL modem.
I have been experiencing calls lately where the other person can't hear me and often I can't hear them. I am forced to just hang up and call on my cell phone. Kind of defeats the purpose.
My question is, Does the firmware update address this issue? I'm not sure what version I have now but I'll check when I get home. |

bcpower, your issue most likely is unrelated to the firmware.
start a new thread and post the technical details found on the very first post at the top of the forum. Run somes voip tests and then post the detailed results for us to look at.
also, if you suspect your wrt54g for whatever reason, you can also run some tests with the computer connected directly to your modem and post those test results.
btw, do you aftermarket firmware for your wrt54g? I would highly recommend it. look at my signature below. |

DD-WRT? I must admit, your post is the first I've heard about 3rd party firmware. Is it superior to the Linksys firmware? |
