I am trying to connect my Linksys PAP2 adapter to internet in Armenia.
I've used it before without any problems in USA, Bulgaria and South Africa. Now, for some reason, it won't work here.
I do not have a modem, as the Ethernet cables comes directly from the wall. I connected those cables to a Belkin wireless router, and another cable from the wireless router to my computer - internet works fine (note: I get a full wireless signal, but no wireless internet). I followed all the installation instructions for the Vonage, excluding the resetting of modem, and still no success.
When I power up the Linksys Adapter, the 'power' light blinks continuously (I waited over 30 minutes), the Internet light is solid, and the phone port lights do not come on at all.
*I also did not have a modem in Bulgaria, and the vonage worked fine.
Thanks for any help (so I can call home to America!),

Not sure if this helps but on another site I read that a flashing PAP2 power light indicates the unit is dead?

You need to make sure the connection to the Belkin is working properly...try turning off the wireless connection on your computer, and see if you can connect to the internet. |

Thanks for your reply.
No, my Belkin is not working as far as the wireless is concerned. Basically, I'm using it only as a router (which is needed with the PAP2 adapter). I do get a full wireless signal from the router, but I get only "local access" and no internet. My IP address was given by my provider, and I had to enter it manually. Automatic settings don't work for it, which I thought was the reason my wireless internet doesn't work.
Any other advice? |

get rid of the router first and see if you can connect directly to the internet via the ethernet cable.
You will see local access only because you are not connected to any wireless connection, shut off your wi-fi button.
If you can connect without the router then you can download Vonage Talk and make and receive phone calls that way, but you need a microphone and headset or if your laptop has a built in mic that will work fine.

I use VT all the time when traveling, I leave my vonage adapter at home. |
