Hi,
Yes, before connecting to Vonage, you need to disable all other connection with verizon, except the internet.
If you want to have your telephone no that is with verizon, do no disconnect the phone line of verizon. Call Vonage cust care and check if you can port the number to Vonage.
If it says that you can port the number, initiate the LNP with Vonage, keep the verizon number alive until Vonage ports the number to Vonage. |

You most definitely do not want to disconnect anything with Verizon before you switch to Vonage. What Vonage will do is transfer your number for you and thus avoid any fees or charges associated with ending your Verizon agreement. You can save money this way even if you don't want to keep your number: after the transfer occurs you can request a new number for a one time fee of $9.99. This is a lot better than having an increase in bills continuously for your other Verizon services. After this transfer occurs, then drop whatever other services (i.e. Cable) you may have with Verizon. |
