It appears Vonage has changed their Outbound Caller ID. When I originally got Vonage 2 years ago, my name would appear on the Caller ID of the individual I was calling. Recently, it appears Vonage has reverted back to displaying Vonage.com.
Has anyone else experienced this? |

Was your number transferred in from another provider? |

Nope. Neither of my two numbers were transferred to Vonage. |

That is news to me. all vonage phone #s come with a generic vonage.com or a location.
are you sure the person who used to get your name didn't switch phones? I have a cordless that will show the programmed phone book name instead of the caller id when someone on my phone book called.
i.e. if I had programmed on my phone book john smith and his phone #, when he called, it would say john smith on the caller id even if his "real" caller id was something else. |

That could very well be. I guess it struck me as odd when my parents hung up on me because they thought I was a telemarketer calling from Vonage. |

This is exactly what I came here to find out. I already switched my personal number to our cable co. Dont make me switch my other numbers.
Would switching my line to business help this?

my understanding with callerid is that it depends on whether vonage issues you the phone number or if you have it transferred over from a telco.
in my case, I had sbc and I transferred it to vonage and it still has my full name on the callerid.
I wouldn't know the answer about business lines. |

Vonage carries no outbound caller ID data when you place a call. If the call you made is routered thru a small telco, the caller ID information may have been forwarded with outdated caller id by that telco.
One way to try and update this is to contact that telco and have them update their database.
Check this site out. It may prove helpful since most of the larger telco s use 3 major databases for caller id, and this is a way to update.
