Before moving to Vonage we had zero telemarketers. We did the National Do Not Call list and had sales reject service. Now, since moving to Vonage, the phone does not stop ringing! We have anonymous call reject rarely are marketing calls anonymous. How can I get this to stop? If it doesn't I'll have to get rid of Vonage. |

Just like any phone company, you are probably the lucky owner of a phone number that was owned by someone who the telemarketers would love to talk with.
I suggest adding your number to the "Do Not Call List" again.

Thank you, we have already been on the DNC list since 2004 and I have already checked to make sure it is still active. And we've had the same phone number for 9 years. Nothing has changed except our phone carrier to vonage. So it must be something about Vonage that I'm not doing right. Is there anyone who knows about this problem? |

My number is with the National Do not call list, and was ported to Vonage. No Change in number of telemarketers, virtually none.
BTW, the National Do not call list enry has to be redone periodically (cannot remember what the period is.) |

Since I have been with Vonage (over a year), I have never received a tele-marketing call. If you are at a store and they want your phone number don't give it out. You would be surprised how many people give out personal information to a teller at a store when purchasing something. If they insist on having the phone number, I give them a fake one. |

I do the same. I give the same number as mine, but change the last number to a 1. I'm so evil! |

If your phone number is on the Do Not Call Registery, telemerketers are breaking the law by calling you. Changing phone providers does not take your phone number out of the registry. If you switch providers and take the number with you, the telemarkers are likely to follow.
Collect as much information about the caller(s) and file a complaint here: https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx |

I have a feeling a lot of the "telemarketing" calls my be phishing calls.
If you do a search for the phone number on the internet, it usually does not come back to any known organinzation and it seems that everyone that complains about a certain number, talk about different types of calls. And most are computer talking to you.
If you actually get to talk to a "person" and you ask them to put you on the "do not call list", you immediately get disconnected. |

That is something that folks need to be on the watch for. Email isn't the only venue for phishing scams. Your bank, etc won't call you up and ask you for your account information. |
