I have this service for months now, I have not had any trouble until now. I just purchased this router today, and I hooked up the new DGL-4500 to my ISP and then the VT2442 to the DGL-4500. I changed the IP address of the DGL-450 to match that of VT2442, but I know they way they are configured at the moment, there would be an IP conflict, what would be the appropriate settings for the Vonage system?

Current setup

ISP
Cable modem
D-Link DGL-4500 ( Router IP 192.168.15.1 )
VT2442 ( Defaulit IP Still - 192.168.15.1)

Simplest way:

D-Link DGL-4500 Router IP 192.168.xxx.xxx, anything but 192.168.15.1.


VT2442 keep at 192.168.15.1.

DHCP on for both.

ed56 is right.
Let the D-link handle all traffiic (with DHCP on if you like), but make sure you NEVER use the same IP address twice.

Two more things:
1. if you connect anything to the VT2442, thiese clients will be on different subnets and will not be able to communicate with the devices connected to the 4500.

2. you might have to configure QoS on your 4500 to give priority to Voip of you don't want to experience choppy call quality. This depends on your overall bandwidth and the traffic you generate.

How do i set up QofS on the DGL-4500 router for my Vonage service. I have been getting a lot of static.

Looking at the poduct manual for the DGL-4500 , I do not see where it has QOS settings.

One thing I would try, since the DGL-4500 is a wireless router, is to turn off the wireless on the VT2442 as this could be causing interference in the wireless operations, Not sure if that is your source of static though.

The other thing to do is go in to your Vonage Dashboard and change your bandwidth saver (under features) to to the lowest 30 kbps setting.
