I'm trying to figure out why the internet doesn't work when i try to install my netgear router in between the connections for the vportal vdv21-vd. I'm trying to do this so i can have internet access on my laptop, wirelessly.
My original connection was cable box --> vportal --> both computer and phone, and the internet and phone works just fine.
Once i try to place a router in between the box and vportal, the internet doesn't work anymore. I realize, i'm... probably missing parts where i need to enter ip addresses to match between the router and portal and computer, but i've never worked with routers before. Can anyone help me out with a decent explanation?
Please give us details on how you're setting it up, and on your internet service. When you say that you don't get internet service, do you mean on a computer plugged into the V-portal, on one plugged, into the new router, on the laptop, or all of the above?
