I've read about Vonage supporting a so-called "SIP thru NAT" capability, which implies no firewall configuration requirements when my ATA is located behind one.
Question is, when I signed up for the service, the first thing they tell me is that I must leave ports 5060 and 5061 OPEN, or the service does not work... so, can someone help me understand what SIP Traversal capability that Vonage supports?
Thanks! |

I am a Vonage n00b, but i think you only need to forward the ports if you are using multiple routers. |

Thanks,
The question pertains to the scenario where I have no control over the NAT device, and therefore can't open or forward ports 5060/5061.

I have one Vonage SIP router behind a NAT router and "it just works". No port forwarding or rules required. I have even used it behind two NAT routers (double NAT) without issues. J |
