Hi Guys
Any help with this would be appricated
I have aLinksys RT31P2 which works fine when connected direct to my cable box,
I now have a shiny new Belkin N1 Mimo Vision, which I am using as my main router and want to try and connect the RT31P2 to the belkin I can get it all set up and the Linksys can be seen on the network but I cannot get the phone light to come one
Current setup
Belkin connected to Cable box, Bewlkin set as Main Router on 192.168.2.1 I have changed the IP on the linksys to 192.168.2.111 I can log into the linksys and see the features and change menu etc but cannot get phone service back,
Linksys is in the Belkins DMZ
I have set up the Linksys to have a static IP on the belins range and disabled DCHP on the linksys.
Any idea where I could be going wrong, this is driving me crazy! |

I would suggest resetting the linksys to factory default, connect it to one of the ports on the Belkin and see if that doesn't work. Since the linksys is also a router, it needs its ports to be on a separate IP network. It will obtain its WAN IP from the Belkin and set its LAN ports to its own network settings. You should NOT be able to access the Linksys from the WAN side (the Belkin side) from a computer connected to the Belkin, you should only be able to access it through one of the LAN ports on the Linksys.
Belkin ports are assigning 192.168.2.x
Linksys ports will default to assigning 192.168.1.x
Computers and peripherals connected to the Belkin will get their IP addresses from the DHCP built-in to the Belkin router with addresses of 192.168.2.xxx.
Computers and peripherals connected to the Linksys will get their IP addresses from the DHCP built-in to the Linksys router with address of 192.168.1.xxx
If you assign the same IP address to both sides of the Linksys, this will cause routing errors and is probably the reason you can't get a phone to work. |

Cheers
I have tried that but still no luck
Can you confirm I am doing this right,
Cable Modem to Belkin WAN Port.
1 Belkin LAN Port to Linksys WAN Port
All Connections on Linksys as factory standard?.
If I understand you that should work? |

That should work. What are the IP ranges of the LAN ports on the linksys? 192.168.1.xxx? |

I assume the Belkin is set up as a DHCP server. What range is it assigning? I'd get rid of the static address 0n the RT31P2 and let it get its address automatically from the Belkin. Reenable the RT31P2 as a DHCP server, but be sure that it's using a different sub-net range from the Belkin. See if you can get to the internet with a computer plugged into the Linksys. |

When you set up the Linksys as a static IP you also have to set the Gateway and DNS.
I would TRY 192.168.2.1 for these which should relay the DNS info via the Belkin from your Cable modem. Worked for me in a similar set up.
The 192.168.15.1 DHCP on the Linksys should work fine for the rest of your LAN, and you should be able to see the 192.168.2.1 Belkin and the 192.168.15.xxx devices as well. |
