I am in a new home which never had landline service (i.e. no SBC), so I don't have the NIU or NID box with all of the screws in it that I see in other posts. I initially had Time-Warner digital phone and have switched to Vonage and want to connect the vonage device to my wall jacks. There is a box outside of my home from the cable company that appears to have 1 pair of the cat-5 wires connected (blue, white) that runs into the house. Do I need to do anything? disconnect the blue and white wires in that box, leave them connected? I called time-warner and they had no idea what I was talking about, neither did Vonage. The phone works fine when I plug the vonage device into the wall. |

As long as there isn't connection in that box to wires going into the ground and off to a phone company somewhere, just leave everything alone. If there is a connection, it's usually made by a plug that plugs into a jack, and then you just have to pull the plug. |
