Let me start off by saying that I have had vonage for a few years, and never had any issues until recently. Past 6 months. I currently use comcast as my ISP. Up until yesterday, my set up looked like this. Cable modem to Vonage Router, to Belkin Wireless router to 4 port router. Decided to eliminate everything by getting the Dlink VWR, yesterday everything seemed to be working fine. Making calls... although the Dial tone took a second longer to appear, everything worked. Today, not so much. I am at work, and whenever I call my house to talk to my wife, the phone starts cutting in and out. And on top of that, the Internet seems to go down everytime the phone rings. I use 5.8ghz phones, and a computer that is hard wired through the router is losing internet. Has anyone had issues like this, and I apologize if there are answers in archived stuff. I looked for like 10 minutes and couldnt find any good answers. Let me know. Thanks, Chris. I dont have access to my router right now, so I will do the VOIP test when I get home... and post the results... assuming I can get online.

Since u r using a wireless router it better to enable security for ur wireless, so that other people wont be able to access ur bandwidth> if u have enough bandwidth both ur phone & computer can work fine simultaneously

I am using WPA PSK... I know it isnt the most craziest of security. But I am not worried about that aspect.

If the speed test checks out, then excuse me for stating the obvious, but I would check the cables. If all else fails, try connecting the computer directly to the the cable modem and run mutliple pings, say 40, from the command prompt and look for time outs (ping yahoo.com -n 40)

If all is ok, add your router and ping again, then finally add your vonage device, etc.

Before going into a lot of moving stuff, pinging, and the like... since you are using a 5.8 GHz phone and if you're new wireless router has 802.11a capabilities (5.8 GHz), I would try using a hardwired phone first to see if the problem goes away. If so, you may still be able to use the wireless and the phones if you're new wireless router has the ability to disable the 802.11a portion of its capabilities. That could be root of your problems.

If that doesn't work, then try all the other suggestions for removing equipment and testing and such.
