I recently purchased the WRT54GL to use with my Vonage router (RT31P2). I've read a lot of the discussions on here recommending that the Vonage router be placed behind the WRT54GL, however, when I do that, if I use the internet the phone doesn't work, and vice versa. If I hook up the RT31P2 as the main router, with the WRT54GL behind it, things work fine, but then I won't be able to use the QoS capabilities of the WRT.
Are there any settings I need to change to get the WRT to work as the main modem? I contacted Linksys but the rep I spoke with said it wouldn't work because the ports on the WRT are blocking the Voip ports on the RT, and that the only way to get it to work would be to disable the NAT and DHCP on the RT and then hook it up through one of the ethernet ports to the WRT, rather than through the internet port.
Since the examples I've read here seem to indicate that's not required, I was hesitant to do it.
Thank you! |

I didn't have to alter any settings on my WRT54GL for it to work with my V-Portal. I did disable "DHCP" within the V-Portal since the WRT54GL was going to be my primary router. Disable DHCP on your RT31P2 if your WRT54GL is going to be your primary router. |

Thanks for the help - that seems to have done the trick. Amazing that 4 Linksys techs and 2 Vonage techs couldn't figure it out. |
