OK, the DLnk is picking up the Westel DNS and Gateway of XXX.XXX.102.1 and DNS : XX.XXX.112.12 and a secondary DNS of XX.XXX.96.12
The Dlink will relay those through the network when a computer connects to it's DHCP, since a computer connected to the DLink will use Host 192.168.xxx.1 and DNS 192.168.xxx.1 (the Dlinks IP address)
The correct MAC address to spoof would be the Dlink's XX.XX.XX.XX.XX.F9, but that did not seem to work. OK
Use it anyway (it will not hurt), and may be the second part of the equation.
1. Then login to the Web UI from a computer connected to your V-Portal through the yellow Ethernet port, either directly or as part of your LAN. Enter V-Configure.com into the address bar of a web browser and click See full device status on the bottom right of the Home page. The Internet IP Address displays under the heading "Internet Connection Status".
2. If the displayed IP Address does not match the one that you wrote down, the V-Portal’s Web UI from V-Configure.com, navigate to the Basic Setup page (click Basic Setup) and follow the instructions provided in "How do I setup a Static IP Address connection?" Enter the IP Address exactly as was shown by the WAN staus of the DLlnk.
3. Also enter the DNS's and the Gateway.
Hope this helps

I think I figured this out in the V Portal. I selected static IP instead of DHCP. I then entered all the pertinent information from the existing Motorola (not the D link)and success! The V portal now shows internet connection and tells me to wait a few minutes for the phone line indicator. Now, since I have it configured for static IP address, will it renew when the lease is up? Or, will it crash after the lease expires? Once I get connected, can I go back and change it to DHCP?
My guess is that if the setup is now just like that of the VT1005, which has been working, then it will continue to work for the V-portal. If, however, the Motorola actually was getting its address by DHCP, then you'll probably have to go back to that on the V-portal.

IP, Gateway and DNS. Manually assign these to the VPORTAL WAN side and see if this works." I have not seen how to manually assign these in the Vportal. If I figure this out, then I'll also try to assign a number one up or down as suggested.
Wait a week or so, the lease shoud have expired on the IP that your Motorola had acquired. You then can change back to DHCP on the VPortal.
Static IP's are not Leased, as this is a DHCP function, so your question "Or, will it crash after the lease expires?" is no.

I again copied ( I had to go back to the Motorola so i could do my work during the day) all the information from the Motorola (DNS, IP, subnet...) into the V-Portal and hooked it up as such:
Westell - V Portal - D link - PC and rebooted the D link. I then rebooted the D link and all seems to work and I can get internet through my LAN. I then tried to set the V-Portal back to DHCP, with the MAC address of the D Link, but no internet connection.
So, I set it back to static IP and will give it a week to see what happens. This seems strange since the Motorola is set to DHCP. Could there be a software problem with the V-portal? My version is 2.8.0 - 1.3.1 and the hardware is 1111
By the way, I have noticed that trying to get to the V-portal by typing in the IP address in the browser is very hit and miss. It seems to work reliably though with the v-configure.com address.

Interesting, sounds as if the Vportal DHCP is not working especially when you used the same MAC address as the motorola

I set up the system with static IP yesterday, it then worked fine until about 7 pm last night when it crashed. I then went to v-configure as suggested and set it back to DHCP. This worked and now I have both lines and the LAN working. I'm now assuming the unit will reaccquire the IP address since it says DHCP, but we'll see. Interesting that it would not work in the DHCP mode until after it quit in the static IP mode. I had tried changing to DHCP while the static IP address was still functioning, but without success.
Thanks for all the help and hopefully this solves the problem

Great! I suspect as you do that the problem is resolved!
