This has happened to me more than 30-40 times now so its not a one off.
I make a call then the phone rings, but the give away (as its happened so many times) is the 'ring ring' is slightly muffled .
Then someone (a recording) answers the phone and they say " hello hello" the I would say is such and such there. and the recording would say " I just go and get her" and then I hear a dog barking and some background noise. The first time this happened I waited for my friend to come to the phone for around 5 minutes before I thought. she hasn't got a dog!!
Anyone had this? |

I have gotten the same thing several times trying to call my friend in the UK. It is really strange.
I wasnt sure if it was a recording or not though. Really strange. I don't know where the call is being routed but its definitely weird. |

This happens to me also! At is truly bizarre. At first I didn’t realize what was happening, then when it happened a few times I realized. Now it happens so often that I can recognize it, and I immediately hang-up and then redial. One thing I have noticed is that it only happens to me when I dial UK numbers. I don’t know if Vonage uses any third-parties to terminate calls to the UK, if yes then I think one of them is playing games…. |

This happened to me me three times this week calling different UK mobile phone numbers. It also happened to a colleague also calling a UK mobile number. We realised it was a recording after hearing it several times. The dog always barks in the same places...the people shouting at each other over the TV is always the same...and you sit and wait. This is some spoof. Its creepy at first. Its also a nuisance when you are trying to call someone and getting routed to this. |

You call a number in the UK and get what seems to be a live person - or is it a voice-prompted version of someone's idea of voice mail Hell? Then you realize it's some kind of prank/scam.
Same thing happened to me when calling a UK cell phone. As in prior posts - hello, dog, TV in background. Very wierd. I hope someone can run this to ground.
I think this points out a vulnerability of whomever Vonage is using to terminate cell calls in the UK.... |

It happened to me again today.
This time I made a record of the time and then logged into my Vonage account to see how it was shown. The account shows it as a normal call, which means we are paying for this... |

Call customer service and give them the number to try. |

it is not related to specific number.
It happens on different numbers, and if I hit redail then I am usually connected to the number I tried to call the first time... |

It happened to me again today. I have been keeping a log of the exact calls (copied from my Vonage recent activity log, so I know that Vonage has a record of these calls).
I opened a case and send a record of three calls in the last 10 days where I had this. I described the problem clearly as happening only sometimes with random UK numbers, and noted that these three calls were examples of where it happened. I even put a link to this thread to show that other people have the same problem.
I got a reply saying "we called the numbers you provided and were able to connect... reply back if you are still having a problem connecting to those numbers." |
