You're gonna need to find someone good in tech 2, or get tech 3 to look at this. India will be worthless, make sure they're forwarding you on to Holmdel. Make sure you're calling and not emailing. Remember, if they have a heavy middle eastern accent and an American name, they're in India, if they have a heavy accent and a middle eastern name, they're in NJ.

No, its any technical service. If I can't replicate the problem I can't troubleshoot it. What they can do is log your device, when it happens, you call them and tell them the exact time you made the call that it happened, they can look at the logs and see the call transaction and figure out why the calls are occasionally misrouting.

Actually it's not just happening with Vonage, it's happening with Verizon too. I also use 2 other providers and it's happening on those lines too. This appears to be more wide spread than people have realized. logs should be kept of these calls and forwarded and someone in Vonage should actually trace these calls and find out what is happening. BTW, do a posting search on fanninja and you will see he is a Vonage stock troll on the "Vonage Stock" forum. Appears to have been bearish for quite some time, and if he has been short since the IPO, can't fault him for making money.

On the other hand most of the trolls are disgruntled ex-employees and usually never has a dog in the fight.

FYI - there is also a second recording being used. The main thing I notice is the dialling tone has a little muffle on the line and the ringing is different to a legitimate one.

It is absolute crap and why can't it be fixed?

This is what I observed. I set up a call center with about 100 seats. I use SIP trunks. We make a lot of international calls. At one point, we started running into these messages, and wasn't long before my callers realized it was a recording. It mainly occurs to UK cell-phones and Australia. We also had incidents to Italy. 2 days ago, my autodialer was calling Australia, and in a matter of an hour, it gathered a list of about 300 calls that went to this message. I sent this to my SIP provider, who changed the route and since then we are good. Before that, we used another provider who encountered the same thing, but didn't do anything to handle it. It's definitely some sort of scam. Looks like some carrier is involved abroad. If I find out something more, I'll post it here."

on July 3 I got an automatic message from Vonage that the trouble ticket was resolved.

Since that time I was not making many calls (I was on vacation), but now I am back and making calls again, and this happened to me again. Sad

So I am reopening the case with Vonage.

I have already supplied them with full details of a number of cases where this happened (exact copy of the date/time of the call from the log in their website and any additional info they asked for).

In reality the most frustrating aspect is that I am paying for these calls. I wonder how many other people this is happening to, and whether it would take the threat of a class action lawsuit to recover the cost to make them do something...

Last summer, I had this exact problem while calling an Australian mobile phone from my Vonage line.

Today I had this problem while calling a French mobile phone (the person in the recording I was routed to was speaking French).

What do I have to say to the support person to get them to bump me up to the next level? This is very frustrating, especially because it seems to repeat at random rather than every time, so it's hard for Vonage to confirm. Last time they couldn't repeat it so they closed the ticket without any resolution. It didn't matter too much then, but this is a phone number I regularly need to make calls to.
