I do not know how long this has been going on but I suspect it started right around the time my parents decided they were going to try the magicjack phone thing (which has since been returned and Ive had one heck of a time deleting it from thier computer).
I am using Comacst high speed internet. The cable modem is a Motorola SB1500. Behind that is the D-Link DGL-4300 router. Behind that is the Vonage adapter, a Motorola VT2442 - VD.
Anyway the "problem" is that the phone indicator light is staying lit constantly on the VT2442. It is green. I remember it used to be amber unless we were on the phone and then it would be green.
I have reset all of the routing devices, rebooted computers, turned all the computers off, unhooked both phones... nothing short of turning the Vonage router off will make the green light turn off.
What steps do I need to take to fix this, assuming something is wrong?
Thanks in advance! |

From the VT2442 manual: Phone 1 & 2 - Solid light indicates that phone lines are ready for Vonage Internet telephone or FAX calls. Blinking green light indicates the phone for that line is ringing or off the hook. Blinking orange light indicates that you have voice mail. |

It's well known that the phone lights on the VT2442 are not reliable. Apparently there's a firmware glitch that causes it. However, this is the first time I've seen a report of the light staying lit when it should be off. Usually the problem is seen as the light not being lit when the phone is working fine.
If that's the only issue, and the phone service is working well, I wouldn't worry about it. |
