Post subject: how does Vonage work with Verizon FIOS?
I currently use my
Vonage
V-Portal with my cable modem service.
Just heard from Verizon that my neighborhood's FIOS service will
become active as of May 1. (after waiting almost 4 years)
I want to switch to FIOS, 30mbps download speed at $39.99 per
month. I'm currently paying $41 per month for 5mbps cable
modem service. I'd be stupid not to switch to FIOS....
On ther other hand, I'm a little worried about how this will affect
my
Vonage
service. With cable modem, I just plug the V-Portal
into the cable modem and it works instantly, no changes needed.
Is it the same with FIOS?
Thanks for any info!

No difference using FiOS.
In fact, it is better than cable modem in my experience.
No matter how much cable company promise you the bandwidth (I had 15Mb before with cable), the other end couldn't hear from me when
Vonage
was set to 90kbs and uploading something at speeding of 50kbs or higher.
With Verizon FiOS, I can have 90kbs and uploading speed at 100kbs or higher without any issue.
