Post subject: Questions about using a Vonage V-Portal with Airport Exteme
I am thinking of using the new Vonage V-Portal with my Airport Extreme. I would like to place the Vonage adapter in front of the AEBS but have the AEBS still act as the router and the V only act as a Voip adapter. Does anyone know if it is possible to have this done in the settings on the adapter?
I currently have the DLink VTA and find that when behind the router I can run into call quality issues when there is heavy network traffic.
Thanks

Hello.
I use the VPortal and plug it into my AirMacExtreme. Very easy to do and the AirMacExtreme plugs into my ADSL box from my provider.
What exactly are you looking to do?
What can you tell me you have done?
I do use mine only at home but I wonder if I were to take it to a wireless hotel? Problem is that I need a LAN connection to make it all work.
Let's explore this more.

I am wondering with the new V-portal it can go in front of the router. (eg: ADSL Modem -> V-Portal -> Airport Extreme Base Station. I am wondering if anyone has hooked up this way and has any voice quality issues. As this type of connection would free up one of my lan ports that I could definately use.
Currently I am using a VTA adapter connected to a Dlink DIR-655 with QOS options set up in the DLink so that call quality is not an issue even with heavy bandwidth usage. I am looking to move to a Airport Exteme but want to make sure there are no issues before I layout that kind of cash.
Thanks
