there seems to be some kind of conflict between the modem and my router. i want my router to handle all the ips and stuff like that but then something happens to the internet and when i check what the ip is for my hardwired pc its giving me an ip from my modem not my router.

Is your dsl modem also a router combo? What's the model number of the modem? What IP address are you getting now?

its a motorola MSTATEA ?

Not sure if its a combo, also my router ip is 192.168.1.1 and when i do ipconfig/all on my hardwired pc i get an ip of 192.168.1.64

Did you do the ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew I mentioned in a previous post?

yes i did and i keep getting 192.168.1.64

i also release/renew and restarted my pc and all my modem/routers

I did find this thread http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r20248464-ATT-DSL-Router-Problem-Motorola-Modem-and-Linksys-Router on dslreports where it mentions the 192.168.1.64 ip address with the router config.

thanks for that. seems like a problem really close to mine. maybe i should post my problem there.

just curious, you wouldnt happen to know if i bridge my modem in my router setup page. do i use DHCP or use PPPoE?

Since you're using dsl, you should use PPPoE.
