Anyone have Idea how Vonage works??? Dont say it works with Internet and all.. I do know all those stuff... My question is How it initiates call from initiator to destination, etc. like SIP servers it is using, how the call flow goes, etc. I'm expecting technical details.. Plz feel free to mail me with details... My Email: me.kame@gmail.com. Replies with much technical details will be appreciated... Thanks in advance. |

As of I know... Vonage gives its users ATA device which is SIP proxy, it gets connected to SIP servers and SIP will initiate session. It have gateways at diffrent locations to connect Vonage to PSTN lines... But I Dont know much about it... |

I think you should read up SIP/RTP/SDP related RFCs on www.ietf.org. Download white papers/call flows from vendors that make network equipment such as Cisco etc.. and you can pretty much figure out as to how Vonage or any other SIP based service works. Hope this helps. |

Some basic VOIP information here.
It does contain several good links such as SIP which are interesting. |
