Have had vonage service for 2 years for a seperate line and does not get used much, but has not been working for the last 2 weeks. I got no dial tone. I still receive voice mail's that I listen to online when they send me the e-mail, but can't make or receive calls and have no dial tone. I got the Linksys RT31P2 and have changed or done nothing to make it stop working, it just happed one day, prior to that I could still make calls for the week before, but my voice could not be heard, so actually had problems for over 3 weeks, then for the past 2 weeks it is completely dead. I have tried power cycling the router and the DSL modem, tried new eather net cables and phone lines and even a 2 other phones (1 corded and 1 cordless), still nothing. My power light on the front is lit up along with the internet light that blinks, but none of the other lights on the phone or internet portions light up. Is my router bad? Any help is apprecieated. thanks |

The lights on the front of the router should give a clue to you and us, Phone 1-2 should give a clue.
Lights:
Power Green. The Power LED lights up when the Router is powered on. If the LED is flashing, the
Router is booting up, running a system self-test, or upgrading its firmware.
Ethernet 1-3 Green. The Ethernet LED serves two purposes. If the LED is solidly lit, the Router is
connected to a device through the corresponding port (Ethernet 1, 2, or 3). If the LED is
flashing, the Router is sending or receiving data over that port.
Phone 1-2 Green. The Phone LED is solidly lit when a telephone or fax machine has a registered
connection to your Internet phone line through the corresponding port (Phone 1 or Phone 2).
(The connection is registered if your Internet phone service account is active.) This LED is
not lit when there is no registered connection. It flashes when the phone is being used or an
incoming call has been detected.
Internet Green. The Internet LED lights up when the Router is connected to your cable or DSL
modem. If the LED is flashing, the Router is sending or receiving data over the Internet port. |

The power green light is solid and the internet light flashes periodocally. The ethernet 1-3 lights and the phone 1-2 lights are blank with none of them lighting up at all. They used to when the phone had worked fine for the last 2 years, but until recently they quit when the phone quit working. What advise is available to try now to maybe fix this or is my router bad? |

Since the Phone 1-2 LED is not lit when there is no registered connection. Your phone may be bad, the phone cord may be bad or the Vonage device is not registering with Vonage. I assume that your computer is not hooked up through the Vonage device.
Try another phone or phone cord. If that does not work, try hooking your computer up to the Vonage device and see if you get internet. If not, type http://192.168.15.1 in your browser and check the network status.
Also, how is everything connected?

I have a westell Versalink model 327W DSL modem with built in wireless and verizon dsl, the main phone line goes into the westel DSL modem and all the computers get their internet directly from the westel modem, An ethernet cable goes from the DSL modem to the port on the Linksys router and the phone is in port #1 going to the phone. I tried a different corded telephone and another cordless telephone along with replacing the ethernet cable from the modem to the router and the phone line from the router to the vonage phone. Worked fine one day and then not the next and I never changed anything or switched any wires. I treid that link in the last reply and it came up "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". |

You would have to have your computer plugged in tothe Vonage device to access that page.
The Router’s default password is admin |

Ok, been out of town for a while and was just able to try again. I hooked up my computer thru the phone router and have internet just fine. Tried other phones and phone cords, but still no dial tone. What do I try now? |

How is your setup?
You must have your ethernet cable connected to the vonage adapter to connect.
Either modem->Vonage-> pc
or modem->vonage->router->pc
or modem->router->vonage->pc.
You cannot connect to vonage device if you setup is modem->router->pc with vonage also hooked to router. (at least I couldn't - your pc must be connected in line with the vonage) |

In regards to the main topic, I went to http://192.168.15.1 and when I click on "voice" or "status" I get the message "Router still restarting. Please wait a moment." I let it set there for several hours and it did nothing other than continue to read this message. Is there another way I can configure the router or is it junk? Please help. thanks |
