How is your setup?
You must have your ethernet cable connected to the vonage adapter to connect.
Either modem->Vonage-> pc
or modem->vonage->router->pc
or modem->router->vonage->pc.
You cannot connect to vonage device if you setup is modem->router->pc with vonage also hooked to router. (at least I couldn't - your pc must be connected in line with the vonage) |
My setup is
pc>vonage |

The main topic here is a know issue with the RT31P2. Suggested solutions are to first try performing a voice factory reset. You can reset this device by either logging in and under the Administration tab selecting factory defaults, Restore Factory Defaults: Yes , and then SAVE. Or press and hold the recessed reset button on the back for 30 seconds while the device is powered on. If this does not work the you should check the firmware on the device which should be:
RT31P2_v1.30.01_000_VM_3.1.06_LI_combin_code.bin .
Otherwise Vonage should be able to get you a replacement device for minimal cost although they have no wireless devices to offer anymore.

Ok, when I log in and click on Administration and then "factory defaults", I click yes and then get the message in red "SETTINGS ARE FAILED" . I tried the reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds and still does not work. So I followed the instructions on the linksys website, downloaded and extracted the new firmware and when it is trying to load I get "Uploaded action is not completed!!! Upgrade file pattern error." So I assume that my router is junk, does this sound correct? |

Sounds to me like your router/adapter is junk. Call 1-vonagehelp and let them know exactly what you have gone through here and they will give you a acct. credit if you purchase a new device. Since, if I recall correctly, you have been a customer for quite a while you should be able to get a device for free. If it is not offerred then just throw in the cancel word a few times and that should do it. Just go straight for technical support when you call. |

RacingJ,
Could you update on what you finally did? BTW, I'm experiencing the same exact problem as yours. Did you purchase another adapter, if yes, which one. How do you like it?
There's gotta be some smart genius out there who has a fix for the RT31P2 with these symptoms. Anyone out there? Please ring in. |
