Hi,
I just bought a vonage box (it's not here yet...) and I am curious if this is possible:
here's the plan:
Plug the vonage box into the PBX at my office (in Beijing), and two modems, A and B, on my linux server.
Modem A is connected to my PBX, i dial a local number + extension from my Beijing cell or home phone and Modem A picks up.
Modem B is connected to the Vonage box. Someone in america calls my vonage box and modem B picks up.
When modem B picks up (a call from the states), it bridges the call to modem A, which dials 9 and then my cell phone or home phone number.
When modem A picks up (a local call), it bridges the call to modem B, which dials a US area code and number.
The idea is that the linux box acts as a bridge, allowing me to take and make calls to america from anywhere in china for "local" prices.
Will it work? Has anyone written software to do it? Is there a better way? etc. |

I don't know if anyone has done it, but it seems like a reasonable plan with a good chance of success. |
