Post subject: Using single-line phone with Vonage and landline
hi, i am a
Vonage
customer. i have taken a basic landline connection so that my home security system works on it. but when my phone is connected to the phone jack, it uses the landline as primary line.
Can some one help me with step by step instructions in layman's terms how i can have my phone setup to use
Vonage
line(incoming and outgoing), but still keep the landline as secondary line for my home security system.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Ganesh Raju

Are saying you are using both
Vonage
and your landline on the " same " house wiring ?
If so....thats your problem.
I assume, you want to use your house wiring for your
Vonage
service....so you will need to have a seperate wire run for your alarm service modem to the landline box.
The landline box should be disconnected from the house wiring to use
Vonage
on your house wiring.
Take a look here to read about hard wiring and alarms.
