It seems each day I keep getting messages in my voicemail instead of my answering machine. Some messages end up correctly on the answering machine and 1 or 2 end up in voicemail. I set the voicemail settings for 30 seconds to give the answering machine plenty of time to pickup.
I noticed today when I called home that on the first ring I was picked up immediately by the voicemail system. I hung up and redailed and this time it rang 4 times and my answering maching picked up. A Vonage tech said it was becuase I might be losing internet connection. I really doubt it as this happens even when I am home and surfing the net. All of a sudden I notice an email coming in saying I have a voicemail even though the phone never rang (and no one was on the phone). Is anyone else having this problem?
I am using Optonline cable service connected to a Linksys RV802 router with a Linksys PAP2 adapter connected to tha router. Besides this issue (and of course the Directivo problem) Vonage is running great.
Thanks, Doug.... |

I know this is very basic, but do you have all the ports forwarded that are required? If your router is blocking the ports from the incoming traffic then it will go to voicemail if you do not have a "Network Availability" number set. If you do have NA number setup and this is in fact what is happening, your calls would/should ring on your NA number. |

Why not just disable voicemail? |

As i posted above, i had a nearly identical problem starting 12-20 and it was resolved. It's hardly a problem in Vonage servers. get in touch with them, they should know exactly what you're talking about. |

First, I like having voicemail. I recently decided to use it 100 percent instead of an answering maching. What I didn't like was calls going to VM immediately without my phone even ringing.
I did call Vonage twice but no one there ever heard of my problem. So I will have to just monitor the problem and see if I can pin point when the problem occurs.
Thanks everyone. |
