Well basically its like this... I know I'm supposed to (or should) plug the modem into the vonage device and then the network router, but my office is in another room so it has to be Modem>Router>Vonage Device (VDV21-VD)>computer. Everything works peachy ACCEPT[U] on my local home network, specifically "My Network Places" I can see all the shared folders on my other computers, but can't open them. Also the internet works on that computer just fine. I've looked all over this place for hours and can't find an answer. Is it IP or firewall problem... or both. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

If you have one computer on one side of the Vonage adapter and the rest of your computers on the other side, you have two networks, and the two networks are going to have a heck of a time talking to each other.
You have to keep all of your computers on the same network in order for them to talk smoothly. Putting a switch (or hub) in front of the Vonage device and plugging your computer and the Vonage device into that would work:
Modem -> Router -> Switch
- Switch -> Vonage Device
- Switch -> Computer
Then your Vonage device and PC in that office are "peers", that is to say they are on the same network - the network served by your router. |
