Post subject: Importent Question! (call transfer)
Hello everyone, first of all thanks you for taking your time, I am a bit confused about
Vonage
, I just placed an order for
Vonage
Business Line, and I am waiting to receive the product.
My first question goes towards: I was told by customer service, I will be able to initiate phone line transfer, just wanted to check with the community.
For example:
Vonage
will be used in an office environment, and I need to be 100% sure the receptionist will be able to transfer the call to let’s say the back office. Would anyone confirm this for me please?
Also my final question goes towards, does
Vonage
also ship out a router or will I need to purchase one, if so any recommendations ?
Thank you for you for your time folks =)
Have a wonderful day.

Vonage
will transfer calls to another phone number (not an extension) as follows:
Call Transfer Flash, #90, Dial, Hang UP
Call Transfer Announce Flash,#91, Dial, Announce, Hang UP(may not work anymore) - - - my experience is that the comment "may not work anymore" is correct, I can not get it to work.

They ship out an adapter, didn't they ask you which one you wanted? Maybe now they only ship out one model.
Like already posted you can only transfer the call to another number.

will I need to purchase additional numbers, to enable the transfer ?
or the adapters that come with the phone will have a unique numbering set
adapters 1 , 2 ,3 and so on, as in transfer to adapter 1 .
Thanks for the feedback guys greatly appreciate it.

you will need an additional number if you want to transfer the call between offices, you need a number to transfer the call to.
The adapter doesn't come with a phone, you supply the phone and just about any phone will work. You either plug the phone in the adapter or you use the existing wiring, plug the phone cord from the wall to the adapter and then you can use any wall jack in the office, which means you can plug phones in all the jacks or use a multiple handset phone. You can only use one phone at a time though and do a search on here regarding house wiring.

Vonage
adapters are not a PBX. They simply connect an analogue telephone to a
Voip
network - in vonages case the internet, more commonly known as an ATA ( Analogue Terminal Adapter).
When a call comes in, a set of data goes to the ATA, that casuses your phone to ring, when you answer, it converts your analogue telephone signal to digital and sends it to
Vonage
and visa versa for voice coming to you.
You CAN connect several
Vonage
lines via the ATA to a PBX system, or a multiple line phone system, but compatability IS an issue, based on posts I have read here and elswhere.
