Since February, I've received 12 calls from some person intent on harassing me over the phone and all but one of their calls has showed up as "Anonymous - Out of Area" or something like that. The calls show up the same way in my billing records too. Is there a way for Vonage to help me get around this so I can have full records of all 12 calls to prove that I am being harassed by this person? |

Assuming Vonage can pull that information, they probably won't be able to release it to you.
If you are being harassed, call your local sheriff's office and file a criminal harassment complaint, keep a log of the times and dates of the calls, and the police should be able to request a call log from Vonage with a court order. Sometimes just telling your harasser that the calls are being logged and you are filing a criminal complaint will get them to stop. Doesn't hurt to get a simple telephone recorder and start recording the calls, too. Especially when your harassing friend starts hearing the "this call is being recorded" beep.
Or call Vonage and ask to have your number changed. There's a fee, but it's not ridiculous.
Or, turn on Anonymous Call Rejection and the caller will get a message "I'm sorry, this phone number does not accept this type of call." or somesuch, and eventually they'll give up. |

The beauty of Caller ID is that if I don't recognize the number, or it shows up as Anonymous, I let it go through to voicemail. If it is really important (say a family member trying to get ahold of me), they'll call back quickly. If they don't leave a voicemail, then I pay it no mind at all.
If your harasser leaves you a voicemail, you have plenty of evidence to hand over to your local law enforcement agency to stop the harasser. |
