I have one of those HP fax/scan/printer all-in-one units.
Is is possible for me to send a fax using the regular Vonage
phone line? Or do I need to get the dedicated Vonage
fax line?
Thanks! (sorry for such a newbie question... ) |

The answer is yes, but if you have problems sending from your main line, Vonage is not likely to help you.
No harm in trying since you already have the device, but wanted to mention this just so its in your head. |

Add *99 before the destination fax number. This puts the Bandwidth Saver setting to High Bandwidth for the duration of that call. If you normally use the High Bandwidth setting (it's the default) the prefix may not be necessary. |

I have a POTS line in addition to my home Vonage line for business calls, the distinctive ring option to my fax and the alarm system. When I got Vonage, I ceased my LD plan on that line and use Vonage Talk or my Vonage Contact Book for LD calls. On the occasion I need LD FAX, I unhook the POTS line and Hook up the Vonage home line, works like a champ.
I did change the baud to 9600 and also disabled error correction, just in case. |
