I am unable to send faxes using v-fax. I have tried multiple known good fax numbers (using their 10 and 11 digit numbers). I even had a Vonage tech try to use the interface to send to a Vonage land-line based fax machine (as well as a Vonage virtual fax line) and he couldn't send a fax either.
In all cases, the status of the v-fax attempt is:
Trying...
Ringing...
Connected...
Sending Page 1...
Unexpected call termination, your fax was not fully transferred...
On the target fax line, the line will ring and the fax machine will answer/handshake but never receives data.
This has been happening since at least 3/20/08. I reported it to the Vonage Tech and he documented our mutual problems with the system on 3/28/08. He mentioned that he was only able to document the call and report the issue to his supervisor but that there was no channel for him to report this to higher up in the system thus my posting here.
I would really like to be able to use the V-Fax server as it was advertised... |

I never heard back from Vonage on this feature malfunction. As you can see it's been a while so I don't expect they're interested in fixing the issue. |

I called Vonage tech support and got someone that spoke English (surprise!). He changed the packet size and it worked when the fax was plugged directly into the V-Portal. However, when I put the fax back into the other room and plugged it back into my RC926 extension phone jack, it went back to giving me the error message and the faxes would not go through. I have not tried moving the fax back right beside the V-Portal where it did work.
I did get an error # and it is error #345.
This is driving me crazy! Thanks for your prompt reply.

I just sent a fax that went though....with the fax in one room and the V-Portal in another. This is just one fax but maybe changing the packet size is the key to gettiing this to work. |

we are aware of the issue, the Vonage Fax server was currently down due to maintenance, please be advised we do not have a ETR at this time. Thank your for your understanding. |
