Are voice IP packets going to be treated as downloads? see http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080327/ap_on_hi_te/comcast_bittorrent_6 |

I think that if these broadband ISPs start pulling a lot of nonsense, someone else who would like the business will figure a way to step in and take the customers away. |

Yeah, did a little calculation, at 90kbs, and 1500 minutes talk time per month (which is a lot for a residential user), 90 x 1000 x 1500 x 60 = about 8 gigs. If countng up and down, 16 gigs, which is really not a lot over a month. I would think Voip would be safe from incurring surcharges.
A bigger issue MAY be torrent users overwhelming some CABLE networks, and ruining the network, though BitTorrent and their DNA technology should help.
It will be interesting to see what happens pver the next few months with regard to Comcast Voip user's QOS. |

I had heard and posted in one of my posts about a month ago that Comcast was purposely shaping traffic on their network to put Voip carriers at a disadvantage so they can push their own Voip service. I know they were accused of that I do not know if they were found to have actually done it. |
