Post subject: Network Cable Unplugged Error
I'm new to the group so I apologize if I am posting in the wrong place.
I have been using the WRTP54G wireless router for about a year without an issue. One month ago desktop #1 starting giving me 'Network Cable Unplugged' errors. However desktop #2 (hard wired) and my wireless laptop work fine. I tried different cables, ports, and still have the issue on the desktop #1. I tried desktop #1 outside of the network (separate location) and it works fine.
I have a 2 week old laptop that I tried to hard wire tonight and got the same errors. Wireless works fine.
Is this a firmware issue?

What happens if you disconnect desktop 2 and plug either 1 or the new laptop into that port?

Same problem. Desktop 1 works in all ports. Same cable in any of other ports on desktop 2 or the laptop gives me the issue. Im trying a second router tonight

Change the Link Speed and Duplex settings (using Device Manager) to use "100 Mbps Full Duplex" or "10 Mbps Full Duplex" instead of Auto Detect.
This is the "usual fix" for an otherwise healthy NIC. I recently had a switch that would disconnect, reconnect continuously if I had more than one device connected. I finally (after spending way too much time to understand what was happening) retired the switch.
