Post subject: LNP Transfer taking well over 20 days!!!
I faxed
Vonage
the LNP Transer form on 11/2/2004 and my number still has not been transferred.
I called them last week and on 12/22 they said that the would check the status with the carrier.. Have not heard anything, so I called back today.. Still, "We will call the carrier to check the status" Anyone know what has to be done to get this process going? It's been almost 2 months now.

mine also took a while, but not as long as many of the horror stories on here (use search function if interested). I got that "checking status" story a lot, and ended up getting results by emailing
dslreports@
vonage
.com. however,
vonage
is somewhat at the mercy of whoever is handling the transfer for them (www.XO.com was mine) and I think they use a few others.

Post subject: My transfer completed today (faxed form on Dec. 12)
I switched over from Sprint. I faxed my LNP transfer request on a Sunday; it took a little over two weeks.
Good luck with your transfer. I'm really liking
Vonage
.

November 16, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
November 17, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
November 17, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier
I'm in the same boat. I email them once a week and I just get the same canned response. I figure they would check on it and get back to me but no one has gotten back to me, I have to initiate the conversation and then its just always a canned response back.
I really like
vonage
, I've tested it with a few calls and its great, but I'm not using fully because I'm still paying for my SBC line.

Tomorrow is exactly 20 business days for me. Still no word. I will send an email tomorrow and post what I find out (if anything).

Wow, too bad you didn't read all of the infinite posts about how POTS drag their feet to piss of
voip
customers so that they give up and go back to the high priced POTS. They are counting on people being gulable but we are smarter than that, right?

Well, as I stated last night, I sent an email to
dslreports@
vonage
.com to find out any information about my number transfer. It has been 20 business days since they sent the transfer to my carrier. Exactly 4 hrs from the time they received it I received the following response:
Thank you for your interest in
Vonage
DigitalVoice.
"Per your request we are processing the transfer of your current phone number to use with our service in place of your temporary
Vonage
phone number. This change is set to occur 12/30/2004. We will advise you when the porting has been completed. At that time your temporary
Vonage
number will be disabled, so please do check any voicemail messages you have remaining before the change takes place.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Sincerely,
Vonage
LNP
866-496-6359"
I'm extremely impressed with the response time from them in returning my emails (every issue I've ever had). I will post and let you all know if they do make the change today as stated in their response.
Can anyone tell me why emailing to
dslreports@
vonage
.com receives excellent response time over going through the webpage or calling? I have an idea why but I would like to hear other people's thoughts. Thanks.

probably because dslreports has a very active
voip
forum that a lot of people come to for advice on which
voip
provider is best, who to stay away from, etc., as well as a place that will rip a
voip
provider a new one if a user isn't satisfied. they evidently have a lot of clout for
vonage
to recognize them with an email (and responsiveness) like that.
