Anyone who thinks that waiting more than 20 days is an issue, has no idea. I faxed my # transfer request in in June. My # finally got xfer'd from MCI's Neighborhood plan in NOVEMBER! That's right kids, FIVE MONTHS Later! I must have called Vonage 50 times, having been told each time, that I would be escalated in the que and that I should not call my current carrier. Of course I did not know at the time about this forum, or believe me, I would have been here. Anyway, after all the nonsense, it was decision to stop paying my MCI bill until they allowed the switch that got my # released. I stopped paying my bill in September, so no $$$$ in Sept or Oct, finally got the deal done.

I think there should be some kind of law enacted that carrier's MUST release your # within the accepted time frame or face action against them.

Another example of a POTS screwing over Vonage. Please remember, it is in Vonage's best intrest to complete transfers as quickly as possible. 90% of the time it is the POTS that cause the delay Mad

My LOA was sent to my carrier (Verizon) on 12/13 and my number was transferred on 12/29. Just 16 days! I was pleasantly surprised and I have had no issues with the service so far - works great!

10/04/04 Notification of account setup. Billed my credit card
12/23/04 EarthLink Unlimited Voice Customer Care[numbertransfer@unlimitedvoice.com] Says:” I am contacting you to inform you that we still haven't received a
response from the carrier with a transfer date. When we get a date of
the transfer then we will contact you. Thank you for your cooperation
in this matter.
01/08/04 Confused as to why Earthlink Unlimited is tasked with changing my line from MCI to Vonage.
01/08/04 Tried to sign up with Earthlink Voip. Their online signup using my current phone number tells me that I cannot transfer my current telephone number and use with Earthlink Unlimited
01/08/04 If I cannot transfer it to Earthlink (out of frustration with Vonage) then how can I expect Vonage to transfer the line using the services of Earthlink?
Should I continue to mess with this? I continue to pay the bills for service that I cannot use. I have not yet sent an email to jeffrey.citron nor to dlsreports@vonage.com

I suggested they give me credit when I spoke with customer service in November and was told to wait until the service is finally connected and then receive credit for the entire perod of time beyond the first 20 days.

Earthlink must be servicing the Vonage accounts or else they are a subcontractor and reselling the Vonage Voip service under the Earthlink Name.

I await email back from Vonage.

Vonage uses several different companies for lnp transfers (they don't/can't do it themselves). www.xo.com is one. I think user JScott posted a few others they use, but I don't have time to look up the post right now.
