I just sent an email to the
dslreports@vonage.com
address. I'll let you all know if I get anything but a canned response back.
Thanks.

This area was one of my biggest concerns. I originally joined Broadvoice, but they never came out of the "Coming Soon" mode. I was more than pleasantly surprised that
Vonage
transferred my home phone number from Comcast Cable in 12 Calendar days. Very smooth transition here for me, thank goodness.

Everything transferred smoothly as they promised yesterday. I received an email stating that I would have to reinstate 911 and my voicemail but those successfully transferred over as well. The only thing that didn't happen is Comcast didn't shut off my service yet.
Vonage
said that I didn't need to call Comcast to shut off the service that it would automatically happen at midnight. Did anyone have to call and cancel their old service or did it take more than a day? Thanks.

I was concerned about this as well with Comcast (formerly attbi). It was not turned off until the following day, some time in the afternoon. I have since received a small credit to my cable bill for a change in service, and I have never spoken to anyone. At least my case, I think everything is all set. Just waiting for the final bill.

Post subject: Number Transfer
It has been 24 business days, and 33 days since I started service. Still indicating they have problems with Cox cable transferring my number. It is great paying for two phone services. Thought I was getting this service to save $$$. Should have just stayed with COX. Don't know if the problem is
Vonage
or COX, but I must say I am about ready to go without a land line and use the mobile.
Only get responses from
Vonage
after several days, indicating they are working on it. When I called after a 15-20 minute hold time, they indicated they have no idea when it will port, but should be soon.
Anyone else experiencing a problem with COX?

I have read that
Vonage
might accomodate you with free service during this transfer process if it is taking them too long. And, it seems that a lot of people get transferred right after they call to complain.
I was thinking about doing the same thing as you, eliminate my home line and just use
Voip
as a backup to my cell phone, use a Pay-As-You-Go outgoing service only.

Send an email to
dslreports@vonage.com
and include your name and account number. You should get a quick email response (well, maybe in a day or 2 as it is new year's eve).

Vonage
will credit you for every day beyond the 20 days claimed on the sign up page. I had kept all of my phones connected to Verizon and used them for incoming and local, as to not run up my bill while waiting. I hooked a phone directly into the ATA just for calls that would cost. I pushed the transfer by complaining to the state, which I have posted several times.
You can go all the way to the top, send an email to
jeffrey.citron@vonage.com
and chances are good you'll get a response that will satisfy you. This only works during business hours, so an email sent today will get a response sometime Monday.
